The 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York’s Upper East Side has once again transformed a historic space into a dazzling showcase of design excellence. Situated within a five-story 1904 neo-Georgian townhouse at 125 East 65th Street, this year’s show house boasts the creative talents of 24 designers and architects who have left no corner untouched.
Designed by architect Charles A. Platt, the 12,000-square-foot building serves as the perfect canvas for the designers’ visions. From low-lit lounge rooms exuding an air of mystery to glamorous azure blue bedrooms, each space tells a unique story curated by its designer.
One standout feature of the show house is the colorful Andes-inspired retreat designed by New York interior designer Phillip Thomas, where our Vinicunca fabric takes center stage.
Inspired by childhood memories of gatherings among a group affectionately dubbed “The Andes Club” by his parents, Phillip Thomas sought to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of those nights spent dining, dancing, and conversing with friends from Chile. Drawing inspiration from the majestic Andes mountain range, Thomas transformed a windowless room into a dramatic after-dinner salon space.
At the heart of this transformation lies our Vinicunca jacquard. This fabric encapsulates the vivid colors and rugged beauty of the Andes, evoking a sense of adventure and nostalgia. Its intricate design and luxurious texture add depth and sophistication to the space, creating a captivating ambiance that invites guests to linger and indulge in lively conversation.
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the Kips Bay Decorator Show House serves a noble cause, raising funds for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. By supporting this charitable initiative, visitors not only have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of design but also contribute to the betterment of the community.
The 2024 Kips Bay Decorator Show House is now open for in-person visits until May 28th.
